Hi there friends! Today is a small departure from my regular recipe posts but I really wanted to share with you about Stitch Fix. I’ve been using this styling service for 3 months and I absolutely love it. I get so many questions about Stitch Fix and how it works, so I decided to do a post about it. I promise to return to recipes later this week!
While I don’t consider myself incredibly fashionable, I’ve always enjoyed shopping for clothes. As a mom of 2 little kids, shopping for clothing for myself has become more difficult. Several of the food blogs that I read had been writing about Stitch Fix and I was really intrigued with the concept. Simply fill out a profile and then a stylist handpicks 5 pieces for you. You receive a box with your items, try them on and return what you don’t like or doesn’t fit.
The service itself costs $20 but that $20 goes toward anything that you choose to purchase from the box. You set your own price range for every type of clothing (dresses, pants, shirts and accessories) and only purchase what you like. If you choose to keep the entire box, you get 25% off the entire purchase. Each piece even comes with it’s own styling card to give you several ideas of how to wear each piece.
While I was interested in the service, I was nervous to join. I love a good deal and often shop the clearance rack for new items for my wardrobe. What I’ve begun to realize is that I may buy clothes because they are a great deal not because I like the fit or the color or the style. This may seem silly but I’ve been wasting my small clothing budget on pieces that I’m not crazy about. I’d much rather buy one $40 shirt that I love and fits me well then 4 $10 shirts that are ill fitting or are simply a good deal. I decided that Stitch Fix might help me add quality pieces to my wardrobe.
I’d been considering joining for months but after Christmas I decided to commit to Stitch Fix. I filled out my profile and anxiously awaited my first fix. I really liked my first box and ended up keeping a scarf and a shirt. I would have bought the scarf had I seen it in a store but I would have never even tried the shirt on had I seen it while out shopping. I actually liked all five pieces in my box but the fit was off in the other 3. Had everything fit well I would have kept the entire box.
My second box was a bust. I kept one sweater that I adore and have worn at least 10 times in the month I’ve had it. Everything else in the box was atrocious. It was so bad that I considered not even getting a 3rd box. Instead, I followed the advice of other bloggers and gave really detailed feedback about each item and why I didn’t like it. I looked at my style profile and revamped it. Then I sat back and hoped for the best with my 3rd fix.
Oh my goodness! Hands down my best fix yet. My feedback was heard loud and clear and the contents of the box proved it. So here’s what was in my box…
Pomelo Brentwood Jersey Stripe Tiered Top $58
I feel like the picture shows exactly why I decided not to keep this top. It wasn’t becoming! The fit was tight, the fabric flaps didn’t do anything for my figure and this piece seemed pricey for a knit top. I decided to send this top back.
Bay to Baubles Hailey Layered Enamel Geo Bib Necklace $32
This necklace was cute. It was very lightweight and was in my favorite color scheme for a statement necklace. I actually already have 3 other statement necklaces in this color so I decided I didn’t need another necklace in those colors. I sent this back.
Under Skies Naima Tribal Print and Stripes Sweater $34
This sweater was love at first sight! It’s a trendy print that is perfect for cool spring weather. It’s short, so I have to wear a tank top under it. I’ve worn it twice since this fix arrived and I think it will be a springtime staple.
Mystree Malvern Embroidered Loose Peplum Knit Shirt $48
Again, I loved this shirt as soon as I saw it. It’s lightweight and perfect for spring. It’s a shirt I can just throw on with jeans and feel put together. The $48 price was a bit much for me but since I had some referral credit (Thank you friends!) I decided to get it. I’m so glad that I did as I’ve already worn it a couple of times.
Just Black Adora Skinny Jeans $88
Suffice it to say these jeans didn’t fit. The color was beautiful but they were about 5 inches too long. I also recently purchased a pastel skinny jean for a much lower price. Even if these would have fit me perfectly I would have struggled with the $88 price.
I kept 2 out of 5 pieces, which I think is great. They are both unique and things I wouldn’t have tried on had I seen them at a store. I’ve really enjoyed Stitch Fix and I’m already looking forward to my next box!
Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I purchase the clothes on my own. This post does contain referral links so if you choose to sign-up, I get a little credit towards my next box.

Hi Jennifer,
I too received the same jeans in my first Stitch Fix, and had the same problem. They were ultra long, and gave me muffin top! Great jeans though, wish they would have fit better. I published a review as well… http://theprettyguineapig.com/15132/a-review-of-stitch-fix/
I was glad to see you found a few pieces you like, because my next fix is coming in April! Wonder if I’ll see anything similar to what you got. 😉 Thanks for the preview!
