I can’t believe that December is here! With Thanksgiving coming so early, I’m all thrown off. The extra time has allowed me to prepare a special treat for my kids this Christmas season. Last year, I saw so many pins on Pinterest about wrapping books for your kids and letting them open one every day until Christmas. With the help of my mom and the library, I’ve got 25 holiday books to read to the kids. I’m more than a little excited! We are in a season of trying to figure out what our family traditions will be. It’s fun to dream about and plan meaningful activities with our kids. We even got a real tree this year and I’m not sure we’ll ever go back to a fake one again!
The idea about books for my kids got me thinking about treats for the blog. Since I’m so behind on posting for my 365 challenge, I’ve decided to give you a new recipe every day until Christmas. It will help me reach my goal and hopefully give you some inspiration for all the events you will be attending and hosting over the next month. To kick us off, here’s an amazing Boston Cream Pie Recipe.
As I’ve mentioned before, desserts are one of the easiest places for me to add new recipes each week. If we are having company, I always include a dessert. I try not to make dessert if it’s just us because I end up eating more of it than I should. Let’s be honest, who wants dessert to go to waste! We recently had friends over for dinner and I made my first ever Boston Cream Pie. I was confused at first as this is actually a cake. I’m not sure why it’s a Boston Cream Pie but it was so delicious I guess you can call it whatever you’d like!
Although mine wasn’t bakery beautiful, it was quite impressive to bring out for guests. Even our little ballerina loved every last bite!
As the recipe writer says, used homemade whipped cream. It’s just more delicious than anything store bought and you can whip it up in a few minutes. The cream and chocolate were so rich that I didn’t even notice that the cake was from a box. The cake perfectly soaks up the chocolate and cream that keeps the entire thing together. Giving this time to chill in the fridge simply increases the flavor. We enjoyed it the first night but the second night it was even more decadent. This was a fun finale to our meal and was enjoyed by all.
