When I was invited to the Big Fork Brands Blogger Breakfast I was thrilled. Enjoying a delicious breakfast that I didn’t have to prepare and the chance to connect with other bloggers was worth the drive to the city. As I began to research Big Fork Brands Bacon Sausage my enthusiasm grew. It’s sausage made from bacon. Seriously! Why had I never thought about that? In addition to being made in Chicago, Big Fork Bacon Sausage is free from hormones, antibiotics, preservatives and nitrates. We strive to support local business whenever we have the opportunity and I couldn’t wait to learn more about this company.
And then the menu came. It included Portobello Mushroom Bacon Sausage Biscuits with Chive Butter, Mini Buttermilk Pancakes with Maple & Brown Sugar Bacon Sausage, Sweet Potato & Chicken Bacon Sausage Hash and Avocado, Spicy 3 Chili Pepper Bacon Sausage, with oven roasted tomatoes & black beans. I immediately began to rub it in Currey’s face that I was getting to go to this event and continued to gloat until the big day came.
As soon as I walked into the breakfast, I was thrilled that I had been invited. We sipped coffee and mingled before sitting down at a beautiful and simply decorated table. The food was served and I dived right in. The homemade biscuits with chive butter were perfectly flaky and the flavors paired together perfectly. Compound butter makes any homemade biscuit even more delicious. The bacon pancakes reminded me of my favorite bacon pancakes at a local breakfast joint. While I also loved the sweet potato dish, the star of the show was the Spicy 3 Chili Pepper sausage.
I love all things spicy and this Spicy 3 chili sausage had the perfect amount of heat. To add to the experience, Lance Avery, the Founder and Chef behind Big Fork Brands, sat with us to share about the history and vision of his company. He is so passionate about the work that he does and it shows. It was a lovely morning meeting new friends. If you live locally, you can purchase Big Fork Bacon Sausage at any of these local retailers. If you don’t live in the Chicagoland area, you can purchase Big Fork Bacon Sausage online. It’s worth tracking down and would be an interesting addition to recipes in your kitchen.
