With any celebratory occasion, I like to have a unique drink. Sure, I’m a big fan of water, but fun drinks add to the festivities. I thought it would be fun to serve Shirley Temples. It was a special treat drink for me growing up and I thought it would be fun to share with the girls.
I searched on my “drink” board on Pinterest and stumbled upon this gem of a recipe. These Homemade Shirley Temples were extra special because I used Homemade Grenadine. Not only was this drink fantastic, I discovered Simply Scratch. I read a handful of food blogs before I decided to write my own. The more I’ve blogged the more writers I’ve been exposed to. I’m amazed at all the ways people choose to approach food and cooking. The world is full of amazing and talented people! Simply Scratch is one of my new favorite food blogs. The meal I made for dinner tonight was actually inspired by one of Laurie’s recipes. I’d encourage you to check out Simply Scratch. I can guarantee that you’ll find lots of delicious new recipes to try.
Back to the Shirley Temples. These were so tasty! I found tart cherry juice at Target. I’d encourage you to get twice as much as you think you’ll need. I was disappointed that I didn’t have more. I used lemon lime Perrier instead of Sprite. This helped keep the drinks from becoming overly sweet. Blythe loved Perrier because the big girls drank it. She spent the next week asking for “Big Girl Water” with ice in a cup without a lid. Yes, we’ve got our hands full!
This is a fun drink to add to the menu of your next party. It’s relatively inexpensive and is an unexpected treat for your guests!
