Nothings says the holidays quite like homemade whipped cream. Whether you are adding a dallop to a slice of pie or a big mug of hot chocolate, whipped cream makes everything better. It’s one of the simplest recipes to make and our guests continued to be amazed by the decadence of the homemade version. I’m surprised by how many of our guests have never had homemade whipped cream before. In my opinion, it’s one of the easiest ways to wow your dinner guests.
The beauty of homemade whipped cream is that you can add extracts or spices to customize it for whatever dish you are making. Using homemade whipped cream for a pumpkin pie? Try adding cinnamon and nutmeg to the cream. Or use peppermint instead of vanilla when using whipped cream for coffee or chocolate pie.
I’ve use homemade whipped cream in several recipes on the blog including Rolo Brownie Trifle, Tiramisu, and as garnish for Creme Brulee French Toast. I always have heavy cream on hand because homemade whipped cream is so versatile in cooking. I love to add a big scoop to a cup of coffee instead of using cream and sugar. As the whipped cream melts into the coffee, it creates a richness that reminds me of a latte. It’s easier than making a run to a coffee shop and I don’t even have to change out of my pajamas! What’s you favorite treat to top with whipped cream?
